In officially one of the darkest areas of Europe, Steenbok Sport is once again organizing a fantastic canitrail, trail run, and walking event in Lauwersmeer National Park! On Saturday, March 14, 2026, the Canitrailers will start at 19:00, the Trail Runners at 19:15, and the Walkers at 19:30. Participants will cover a distance of approximately 10 kilometers, with Walkers taking about two hours and forty-five minutes, while Trail Runners and Canitrailers will take around one hour and forty-five minutes on the unique route. Headlamps are allowed but must remain off for large parts of the route to fully experience the darkness and starry sky. At the finish, there will be a cozy atmosphere with a warm snack and a drink.

Highlights

  • The hike lasts for the Walkers about two hours and fifteen minutes, and for Trailrunners and Canitrailers about one hour and fifteen minutes.
  • Main lighting is allowed, but must not be used on large sections of the unique route.
  • At the finish, there will be a friendly atmosphere, warm snacks, and a drink waiting for you.
